America Recycles Day November 15th- Call for Garden Art

Feeling Artsy???

UVA Sustainability is holding an event for America Recycles Day on November 15th. We will be on the South Lawn from 10am-4pm. We will be tabling for some of the programs we do, and have a few other displays. These will include a few contests, a bale of recycled cans, a dumpster dive, a display of recycled art, and more!

We are inviting environmental groups from the community and UVA to join us for the event. We would love to have the Student Garden come. Please let me know if you will be able to attend the event! If you have any questions please feel free to email me as well.

Also, we are having a contest of recycled art. Students can enter any art pieces made from mostly recycled/reused art pieces. The art will be judged by students on America Recycles Day and some pretty great prizes awarded. If anyone involved with the garden would like to submit a piece we would love to have it! You can have them email me (kml9b@virginia.edu) if they are interested! Also, if you don’t mind sending out a blurb about the event to your group that’d be great! Here it is:

Feeling artistic? Want to display your art to all of UVA? Enter our recycled art contest!

UVA Sustainability is looking for environmentally-conscious artists to showcase their work on America Recycles Day on November 15.

Students from around grounds will judge submissions and winners will receive gift certificates for restaurants on the corner!

Only catch: the art must be made from recycled materials!

Submissions are due Monday, November 8. Email Erin Webb at edw5b@virginia.edu or Kelly Laustsen at kml9b@virginia.edu with submissions or to learn more!
