Produce and ice cream

It’s been extremely dry in Charlottesville for the past few weeks, but the garden is still happily producing (with some diligent watering!).  We’ve now pulled all of the garlic, started harvesting zucchinis, are continuing to harvest plenty of cucumbers, and tomatoes are finally starting to really ripen.  Purple hull peas will be ready soon!

For our workday last Friday we made homemade ice cream with fresh peaches – yummy!  We used ziploc bags with ingredients in an inner bag surrounded by ice and salt in an outer gallon size bag. This is a super easy way to make a delicious treat.  You can find the recipe and full directions here:
