Please join us this Saturday, October 17th, from 4-7pm in the garden for a FALL FESTIVAL to celebrate the season!
4pm – building cold frames* with help from the student architecture organization – AIAS
6pm – PUMPKIN CARVING and POTLUCK – we’ll provide the pumpkins, you bring some food!
**Cold frames are a great way to extend the growing season by providing a sheltered growing area to trap heat in a garden bed. We will be building the structures over existing beds by increasing the height of the bed frames and covering with plexiglass that can be vented. These structures are easy to build and a great tool for growing cool season crops into the coldest weather and starting plants early in the spring. Here’s a decent link to a blog with pictures and more information about cold frames.
